"Then there's Atticus Shaindlin's show-stealing Malvolio, perhaps the most fitting marriage of actor and character on Bay Area stages this year."

"The sharpest performance on the deck belongs to Shaindlin as Malvolio. His is a highly-skilled tightwire act that hits every target of hilarity he aimed for, a brilliant and physical comic marvel. He becomes a vessel for what the best Shakespeare comic characters do so well - absolutely steal the show."

"In an ensemble piece such as this, it seems odd to call out any single performance, but Atticus Shaindlin's Malvolio cannot be denied. He gets to deliver a show stopping musical number which may be one of the funniest turns I have ever witnessed. I was not the only audience member who nearly fell out of their seat laughing, and he certainly brought the house down."

And can someone please write a solo show for Atticus Shaindlin's Malvolio? He doesn't just move like a choo-choo train or smile like

a feral cat pre-bite, or maybe as if he's about to get X-rayed at the dentist. He actually even just

stands funny, as might a ballerina posing for cameras only he can see. His frozen gaze, whether he's fantasizing about others cowering before him or plotting revenge against those who don't recognize his greatness, contains multitudes.

"Shaindlin practically steals the show with his show-stopping number "Count Malvolio" where

he dreams of his eventual rise to greatness based on the Shakespeare text 'Some are born

great, some achieve greatness, and some have greatness thrust upon 'em.'"

"Shaindlin is both the perfect counterpoint to the lost and exasperated Sally. Delighted to be a part of the depravity of the Weimar Berlin, which he'll use as inspiration for his writing, he really believes he can save Sally from her vices. In his second go round playing Clifford, Shaindlin delivers a genuine, heartfelt performance."
